Spring softball started off in fine fashion at Irving Park on Sunday with a match-up between Big Pink and Pitches Be Crazy, two veteran teams who have seen their fair share of success on the field.
It was apparent from the get-go that the boys from Big Pink had spent some serious time at the batting cages in the off season, crushing three home runs over the left field "wall" and taking a commanding 14-8 lead entering the 3rd inning.
At this point it turned into the Amy Schweiker in left field for Pitches Be Crazy, a natural in the field whose ability to cover ground with blazing speed and a sure glove shut down the bombers from Big Pink for the rest of the game. To her left, to her right, over her head or running up a hill...it didn't matter to Amy as she displayed a sure to be golden glove nomination by her performance in the field throughout the game.
Solid work Amy...your hustle and defensive prowess was appreciated by all of those who witnessed on this fine day for Underdog softball.
