In their first season in Underdog, the Brutal Bowlers took the title by defeating league mainstays Mafia in the final. In one semifinal, Mafia dispatched of No Pin Left Behind 536-463, thanks largely to a 166 from Eric. In the other semifinal, Brutal Bowlers defeated Bier LeBrewski 497-409, with Mel leading the team with a 144. Then in the final match of the season, Brutal Bowlers stepped it up a little more, beating Mafia 527-481, thanks to the combined hot rolling of Dave and Dave with scores of 152 and 144. Additionally, even though we don't score this way in the playoffs, it's pretty cool to note that if we added the scores together for both games (like we do during the season), Brutal Bowlers would have beat Mafia by only seven pins, 1024-1017. Congrats to Brutal Bowlers and all the playoff teams!
Finally, I can't leave without one non-playoff comment. I don't know if it was the free beer or what, but for some reason, people in other teams started rolling lights out last night. Specifically, three bowlers broke 200. Eric on Split Happens posted a 206, Darin on the Bowl Jobs rolled a 207, and in the high score of the season, Curt from the BiPolar Bowlers scored a 225. Nice job channeling your inner Lebowskis everyone!
Being that it's playoff week and all, I thought for once I'd give the player of the week award to the, ummm, actual most important player of the week. Novel idea, eh. This week the award has to go to Dave, who strongly helped the Brutal Bowlers to the title with a 139 in the semifinal, and then turned it up more in the final with a 152. Congrats Dave!
The Brutal Bowlers had the highest team score this week, and Sarah was the mark of consistency, rolling a 113 in both games. For her mirror image effort, Sarah is this week's player of the week. Congrats. And Rogue beers for everyone!
