Babe Ruth, Willie Mays, Mike Cleveland, the Sutton siblings and Davey Zinn are some of the all time greats on the diamond. But with each of these players they couldn’t have done it without their team. Teamwork is what Drunk Tank represents. It’s often time their boistorus fans or their team mascot or a chatty catcher that provides a spark for the team. Week in and week out this team showed up ready to have fun - and all that fun ended with a Championship this season!
The team had their bats going early against one of their rivals Thugs and Kisses - a formidable opponent. Hitting around the lineup and making big time plays on defense this team earned themselves a spot in our Underdog Hall of Fame!
Davey Zinn is a joy to have on the diamond! His love of the game is contagious. Davey is always the first on the field, warming up on the mound. He has 3 different pitches in his arsenal and really knows how to work the count! This week his bat was on fire - and once aboard he is always hustling to get extra bases. Ladies and gentlemen, Davey Zinn - player of the week!
Mike Cleveland was one of the best players on the diamond on Sunday at Rose City Park... he also happens to be 80 years old. Mike killed it at Rose City Park on Sunday. He actually played 2 games for Drunk Tank and Paddy Wagon in 100 degree heat. He was on-base damn near every time. You'd think at 80 years old, he would maybe get a base hit, then ask for a courtesy runner. Not Mike. He ran around the bases like someone 40 years younger. It was amazing how nimble he was at 80 years old. It was very inspiring to know that I might have 40 years of softball playing left in me. Great job, Mike! You're this week's Player of the Week!
