First Place

Summer Co-Ed Softball at Irving Park Sundays

Irving Park has seen its share of intense and closely contested Underdog softball games over the past few years...a sun drenced field on Sunday provided the setting for a whale of a championship game between Falco's Army and Death from Above.

Both teams went back and forth for the first four innings, resulting in only a three run lead heading into the top of the 5th. With Death from Above's history of scoring runs in bunches, Falco's Army knew this lead was tentative at best. Their bats went red hot for the next couple of innings, resulting in an 18-9 lead heading into the bottom of the 7th. Down, but not out, Death from Above flipped around their rally caps and put together a bottom of the 7th for the ages...10 runs later and an 19-18 victory fans will be talking about for years to come.

Congrats Death from Above...your never give up attitude is an inspiration to the Underog community!

Kelsey Harnisch

Death From Above

Doesn't it always seem like the player whose dad is in the stands on father's day hits a home run or has a great game? Maybe that's just because ESPN reports on it, but ESPN reports on it because it's a heart warming story that makes good news. Yesterday, Kelsey had a great game that included stellar defensive play, timely hitting, aggressive base running and a game changing home run. On it's own that would merit player of the week honors, but when her Mom had come out just to watch her play it makes the decision a no brainer: Kelsey Harnisch is this week's undisputed player of the week! Congrats Kelsey and Death From Above!

Ben Rich

Death From Above

As your newly appointed Player of the Week, Ben Richardson will be charging a shrewdly negotiated $10,000 flat fee for future speaking engagements. What type of play earns you the credentials to charge such an outrageous sum? Well Mr. B. Richardson coolly swatted two home runs and played some rugged short stop. Unless you're Troy Tulowitzki, short stops aren't known for dropping opposite filed bombs like the Enola Gay. So that my friends is how you pick up POTW honors and an ego large enough to charge 10K for a group of people to listen to what you have to say.
