After some early morning clouds, the sun came out to play for the Fun-Core Championship Game. Just like their solar counterpart, both Space Monkey Mafia and Kick the Bucket came ready for the Fun-off, dressed as Nerds and Super Heroes, respectively. The game began shortly after "BeerMan" won the slow, methodical but humorous run-off against the Nerdy Penguin. Both teams brought their A-Fun Game, and soon there was plenty of capes and math statistics a-flyin', high-fives, and even some mid-play arm-wrestling. The music was good, the costumes great, and the spirit undeniable. In the end, it was the Space Monkey Mafia who sealed the deal with the whole team hug-off, mixers and the largely strange and ineffective earthquake defensive strategy. Congrats to both sides, they have great spirit and they showcase what Fun-core is all about.
With the luscious sounds of "Kung -Fu Fighting" behind the back stop, the game between Kick the Bucket and Space Monkey Mafia started with the official sword-fight off, and soon after the teams were playing out their Feudal Japanese fantasies with much fervor and excitement. It took one particular ninja, Julio Aleman, whose expertise in espionage and sabotage helped break down the opposing guild's will. His high flying moves, his Wu-tang Sword style dagger throws, his ninja high-fives a flyin', Julio lead his team to the priceless taste of victory...and there was much rejoicing/dancing back in the village.
Part present and part 80's, Space Monkey Mafia, Fighting the Forceps, had a lot of runs and nice plays. Patti was stationed at 1st on D all game and she didn't disappoint. Totaling 5 catches, 2 in foul territory, while making all 3 outs in the 4th inning.! Getting on base and smiling. Nice game and great hustle.
