Fall Co-ed Softball at Montavilla Park Sunday

Diana had a dream, and after the first inning of the semi-finals, it looked as though it just might come true... Matched up against a true competitor in Aces of Bases, the Upper Deckers found themselves in a 10-0 hole heading into the bottom of the first inning. Who knew you could score 10 in an inning!? Battling back with a couple 9+ run innings themselves, the Upper Deckers gained the lead by the bottom of the 5th inning and never looked back. Props to Aces of Bases though, as they gave the champs a run for their money and had us all holding our breath for an hour and a half.

Next came the championship against a familiar foe in Sons of Pitches. This was a defensive battle as both teams kept one another from breaking open any one inning. A battle of the pitchers ensued as Tyson and Jimmer kept their teams in the hunt for the coveted wristbands. A three run game heading into the bottom of the ninth, the tying run was up to bat with two down. A solid hit brought one run in and advanced the runner, but a heads up defensive play caught the batter (now runner) slipping on first and a small pickle ended the game, sealing the deal for an unprecedented 7th, 8th, or 9th championship.

Congrats to Evan (hit that shit(ter)), Svaren (nice arm), Erik, Tyson (cool cat), Christina and Evan (hard hitting couple), Justin (lefties take note, that's how you do it), Dan, Travis, Katie, and Andy and Diana (plus whomever else I forgot, sorry). Cheers to another great season.
