No one walked away with an easy win tonight, both teams that advanced to the Championship game worked for every point. Teams came ready to play tonight and you could see from the sweat and energy that the playoffs had arrived!
Even with limited light Girl Boy Drink & The Swingers played their hearts out on court 2. The Swingers came out strong in game one taking the first win! Girl Boy Drink was warmed up by game 2 and decided they were not going down with out a fight duking it out to a 24-26 score, so close. The Swinger laid on their serves and also took the 3rd and final game. Tipsky gave Bumping Uglies a challenge with their tough swings and scrappy play. Tipsky was trying to hold onto their championship title, but Uglies had other plans in store for them. Bumping took an early lead in game 2 which seemed to be enough to get the 2nd game. Then they gritted their teeth and came up with another win in game 3 to put them in the championship game!
This meant Bumping and Swingers advanced to the finals! Both teams considered splitting the Missisippi certificates and heading for some beers, but they decided someone needed some bragging rights! Both teams were Indy teams, but you could have fooled those watching because everyone looked like old pals who have been playing together for years. Bumping Uglies came into the game with an undefeated schedule under the belt and The Swingers knew they would be in for a tough one. Both teams were coming off competitive first matches and they were going to have to be on top of their game to walk away with a win. This didn't seem to be a problem for The Swingers as the bended, flailed, and twisted their bodies to recover every ball. Their talk and determination helped them capture game 1. A loss in the first game was just what Bumping needed to give them some extra fire. The game went back and forth with each serve being crucial to the win. With Bumping Uglies cranking up their play and powering on the ball Uglies took game 2. As any championship should, it all comes down to the 3rd game. What seemed to be the impossible was accomplished tonight as the Swingers "bumped" the bumping uglies from their reign to take the victory and the opportunity to devour on some good pizza. Congratulations Swingers!
