In the midst of a freakishly wet spring season the championship day seemed eerily dry. As if the clouds had parted above Montavilla and provided the perfect atmosphere for a championship day.
Both the Duck Balls and Pimps teams arrived early booting the balls about and generally working off any nervous energy that may have been in the air. But once on the field, both teams played hard, rarely missing an opportunity to make a play. Off to a 4-0 early lead, Cash 4 Pimps watched as Duck Balls rallied in the 6th to narrow the lead to 1 at 4-3. The the 7th happened. In their final at bat and chance to lengthen their lead, C4P was called on a man bunt that signaled the 3rd out, they would have to rely on a strong defense to close out the championship. A 1-2-3 bottom of the 7th was all it took for the C4P team to be crowned champs in their 3rd season of kickball.
Following the championship game was the all important 3rd place game where rivals the Sweatbands faced Kicks En Gigles (K.E.G). Simmilar to the early game The "Bands" took an early 5-0 lead only to see KEG come back strong. This one was a shootout all the way, and after both sides rallied in opposing innings, the final score of 12-9 saw Sweatbands taking home 3rd place honors.
