Not The Face
Chris impressed us all with his lightning quick feet and his ability to time things just right! He not only hit a 2-run home run, he did it with flare like no other. With a runner on base, Chris let out his fury on the kickball and smacked a deep shot to the outfield. Not to deny himself the opportunity for an in-the-park home run he rounded the bases faster than anyone realized a human could - especially his teammate on base. He strode into 3rd base while the defense had already began their relay throw to home plate. Within a matter of seconds he was one-step behind his teammate and just a few steps behind home plate. With the kickball just feet away from him, he stomped on home plate with some fancy footwork just milliseconds behind his teammate in front of him to finish the 2-run home-run!

POTW: Pablo Caprotta
B-Cubed- Indy #1
Pablo came to the park with the biggest foot of the week! During B-Cubed's first game of their double header he stole the show with his monster shot to right field over the fence and onto the neighbor's front door step. Of course this wasn't his only multiple base hit of the game but unfortunately he wasn't able to follow-up his show-stopping hits in the second game since he had to leave early for a previous commitment. We are all looking forward to seeing what he has in store for us in the next game!

The Make it Happen Captains
This week's POTW is Justin Hova Howard for his awesome unassisted triple play! With runners on first and second, the batter kick a soft liner out over the bag at second. Justin came flying in to make the grab and touch second himself, while the runner at first was tagged out after the first two outs. It was truly amazing and historical at the same time. Great effort by Justin!

The Make it Happen Captains
In one of the most interesting games I've seen all year the Make it Happen Captains really had to work to make this one happen! M.K. Ward stepped up to the plate with her team down 3-1 in the middle of the game and just took a serious stance at the plate. Moments after an opposing team member mentioned that she looked serious she belted a 2-run H.R. to right field to tie the game up. But that wasn't the end of the heroics by The Make it Happen Captains. In the bottom of the 7th inning Shaun Ghyselinck stepped up to the plate with a tie game and unleashed a furry of power before rounding the bases with his walk-off H.R. that sent his teammates spirits soaring and leaving them hoarse from the ecstatic screaming that followed.

Blockheads
The Blockheads have one more mark in the win column thanks to Morgan's end-of-the game heroics this week. With the game on the line in the bottom of the 7th inning, The Blockheads were trying to hang-on to their 1-run lead while the opponents had a few runners on base. With two outs Morgan ended up with the ball near home-plate with a runner trying to make it back to first base. He made a full out sprint towards first base to try to tag the runner out but was a few feet short of making it their on time. But no matter, his head was on a swivel and he saw a runner trying to make it to home plate to tie up the score. His lightning feet went at it again and he came down the first base line towards home plate with a victory in mind. At the last moment while the runner was making her slide into home Morgan threw the ball to make the out just moments before the runner was able to touch home plate! The game ended there 6-5 in favor of The Blockheads as they carried Morgan off on their shoulders into the sunset - at least that's how I remembered it!

POTW: Jenn Anderson
Hot Metal
After pitching another close game, Jenn has shown her toughness is hard to match. In the middle of the game she took a hard line drive right to the middle of the face. Hot Metal rallied in support of Jenn going down by finishing the play and making the out at first base. Jenn went to the sidelines for just that half inning to ice her nose and face before making it right back onto the field for the next inning. Way to go Jenn, your toughness is envied even by hockey players!

The Kankles
Molly showed her team why she's one of the premier middle infielders in Underdog today. Throughout the game she showed her solid hands catching the ball but it was an attempted double play that really made her stand out today! During a routine ground ball with a runner at 1st Molly headed to 2nd base to cover. When the ball arrived not only did she make a fine catch and tagged the base but she also swiveled and attempted to turn the double play by firing it down to first base. Although the runner was just a bit too fast heading to 1st it was still one of the most impressive attempts I've seen all year. Molly brought her Underdog A game today, congrats!

The Kankles
Jason's leadership and team vision this year helped his team win the championship not just for themselves but for a farewell for Jason himself. As I learned today that Jason would be leaving for Denmark for an undisclosed amount of time, he displayed his pride around his neck. Literally. A flag draped around him he wanted nothing more on this day to win the championship and that he did! Did I hear something about kickball for Denmark's national team whispered through the air?
