POTW: Elliot Chase
Speakeasy's Box Knockers
Elliot Is always having a great time at the ball field! He always has "A lot on his mind" and is even willing to share it with everyone playing! If he is not making everyone on the field laugh he can be found drinking from his red sippy cup from the dugout. This week Elliot gave everyone a show when he could not decide whether to stay at first or try for second. After going back and forth MANY times he finally slid into second, was called out, received a strawberry from the rock hard ground, and got up with a big smile! Keep it up Elliot!

POTW: Heather Matthews
POTW: Heather Matthews
Pabst Smear
Heather made sure to get herself noticed on Sunday. She showed up with her team captain ready to distract the opposition. Both were wearing cut off T-shirts and showing a bit of midriff. There were laughs all around, but what really made Heather stand out were her amazing catches in left field. Every time someone on the Box Knockers would smash a ball towards left, Heather made great catch after great catch. Great job Heather!

Double Headers
Neil Kelly Sluggers
POTW: Nick Traeger
POTW: Nick Traeger
Speakeasy's Box Knockers
In the final game of a fantastic Sunday, Nick was able to lead his team to their fist victory of the spring season. Gils Speakeasy on SE Taylor can be proud of the effort put forth by this fine player.Money well spent by this sponsor bar. Down big most of the game Nick did not let his teammates take it easy and give up. Leading by example, his sparkling defense and game-ending three run home-run were surely needed to cap the thirteen run comeback. Nick can rest easy knowing he did all things possible to lead his team to the promised land. If only it was this easy for all of us!

Double Headers
Fighting Maple Leafs
POTW: Philip Herbst
POTW: Philip Herbst
The Sauce
We have all heard the phrase, "I could beat you with one arm tied behind by back". Well, Phil Herbst set out to coin his own phrase. Playing the whole game on pretty much one leg because of a bad ankle, he pitched and hit his team to victory. Phil, backed by solid defense was able to hold Death From Above down in the later innings, allowing for a possible comeback. Not wanting to be considered a one-sided player Phil mashed the ball in multiple at bats including, in his final at-bat a deep gap shot that he was able to hobble into a homerun. All his efforts prevented and then capped a spirited comeback.
