Despite having the word "Sloppy" in their team name, the Sloppy Sets have come together over the summer to play with precision and teamwork. Everyone on the team has a job to do and they perform with laughter and love of the game. This team plays indoor and out and with sand beneath their feet, they appear to compete even harder. With Aaron and Patrick providing the defense and kill skills at net, Carly, Julie and Lynnea provide awesome work in the back row by keeping the volleys alive and well. The Sloppys had their work cut out for them versus a determined opponent in The Volley Lamas. The Sloppys won the first set in extra points, 24-22. Relaxing a bit, they dropped the second set, but came back strongly in the third to claim victory and the championship by a 21-17 margin.

If you were playing poker, you'd want a hand full of aces to bring a win. And if you are playing volleyball, aces are also key to point production and advantage. To live up to their name, Nice Aces use a lot of aces to take over a game, thanks to the Power Brothers, Zac and Seiji Blume. These guys can get up off the sand like no one else and just crush the ball over for kill after kill. And with great accuracy. In the Midcore championship on Wednesday at Eastmoreland, the bros were helped by good setting from teammates Angela and Karole who also worked back court in saving a lot of whatever A Bunch of Beaches would throw at them. Nice Aces were so in sync that they cruised to a 3-0 set victory. Ace is the place to be and the Nice Aces know it!
