The Grown-Ups Get Up and Take Two
The Grown-Ups Get Up and Take Two
It was a very sunny, very fun and very competitive day at Montivillia. Ending the day with a fantastic double header win were The Grown-Ups. They beat two tough teams in Thugs and Kisses and Monster Squad.

In game one The Grown-Ups rode a very crafty pitching performance by Tim Miller to victory. Tim used all parts of the strike, keeping a hard hitting Thugs team guessing. A few key defensive plays in right field by Marta Tikkila and it was on to victory lane and game two.

Game two was more of the same. Great pitching, great defense led by Lea Andrews, with some well timed hustle by Billy Solowski sprinkled in and the double header sweep was complete.

Three great teams, two tough victories and fun had by all. A great way to end a another great weekend at Montavillia.

MacKenzie "PONE" Tweedie Has it Figured Out.
As acting Captain of Thugs and Kisses, Mackenzie has set the standard. She always makes sure she has a full team, is tremendously energetic, and organized. She likes to stick around to check out and cheer on other teams or lend her skills where needed.

As her teams top catcher she exhibits nothing but grace and confidence. Having mastered the two most important skills, encouraging her pitcher and communicating with the umpire, Pone is truly one of the best every Sunday.

The Swinger Put Together Impressive Victory!
The Swinger Put Together Impressive Victory!
Montavillia's resident Indy team finally put it all together on Sunday. The Swingers did just that, they kept swinging and battling and earned a hard-fought come from behind victory.

They tone was set by Trey Batey on the mound. He kept the Soaring Marlins from soaring too high and getting too big of lead. Trey was able to work the zone and keep hitters off balance.

On offense The Swingers were led by the likes of Ricky Kidwell and Sarah Miles. Each had multiple hits, took the extra base when they could and kept innings alive for the other big hitters.

They were thrown together to start the season and have now come together. A true Indy success story in the making.

Sons of Pitches
I was hot, sunny and the day after Cinco de Mayo. Hangovers were everywhere. One of the biggest on this Sunday was the one Tony Smith was sporting.

An endless supply of tequila the night before did not stop Tony from pitching Sons of Pitches to two hard fought victories against two hard hitting teams. Tony was not his usual self but his effective wildness was able to keep hitters off balance, allowing his team to come from when they finally warmed up the bats.

A great day and a true Underdog performance!

A Mother of a Day!
A Mother of a Day!
Sunday at Montavillia was a tremendous day. It was Mothers day and on this Sunday Mothers ruled. Leading the way was Keyla, she is surely one of the nicest Mom's I have met. It is hard to tell under her sunglasses but she may have a third eye. Her ability to manage a small child off the field and run things on it is amazing. Kayla is always positive, always smiling, has great suggestions every week and always keeps her "boys" in line.

A special shout out to Rose Solowski, Janice Janesky, Andrea Hammons and all the other Underdog Softball Moms. Thanks for making this a family fun affair. Like everything else in the world, it would never happen without you.
