Notes

First Place

Spring SE PDX Co-Ed Kickball Sundays at Col. Summer/Seawallcrest Parks

We have come to the end of another kickball season and what a season it has been! 14 teams started out with the same common goal of taking home the coveted “Sealed Envelope” for the 1st place team. Teams battled through a rainout week and Easter, Mother’s Day festivities, and some of the nicest weather Oregonians have ever experienced in the month of May. Could you ask for anything more?

In this final week of the playoffs it was obvious that the cream of the crop had shown up to play some real kickball. The first semi-final match took place at Colonel Summers Park between the Indy Team TERRORdactyl Feeding Frenzy and Team Fancy Sauce. The TERRORdactyls jumped out to an early 2-0 lead and looked as though they may shut out the favored Team Fancy Sauce but “The Sauce” came roaring back and won 6-2. This assured them a much anticipated spot in the Finals.

The other semi-final match took place at Seawallcrest Park between the Kickn’ Kids and I am Kenny Powers. Kenny Powers had an awesome season but players failed to show up to the game when it counted most (playing one person down in the semis hurts). As a result, the Kickn’ Kids played their way into the Finals with an 8-1 victory. AAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH!!!

The Finals had team Fancy Sauce versus the Kickn’ Kids. What a defensive battle!! At the end of the 3rd inning the score was tied 2-2. At the end of the 6th inning the score was tied 3-3. It all came down to the final at-bats. Team Fancy Sauce was held to no runs in the top of the 7th. In the bottom of the inning the Kickn’ Kids loaded the bases with one out. The next kicker drove the ball into the outfield on a sacrifice fly and Christie Nelson strolled home to win the game 4-3.

Congratulations to the Kickn’ Kids who won three straight games to take home the Championship Title. Their treasure map to the championship can once again be hidden until next season.

POTW: The entire Team of Kickn' Kids

Kickn' Kids

Kickn' Kids came out all season with the most zeal and spirit of all teams in the league. Their team singlehandedly kept the costume store near Lloyd Center afloat during these hard financial times. Who knew one place would carry so many different types of pirate apparel.

That being said, the Kickn' Kids made 15 other teams walk the plank in an unanticipated Championship Run. A BIG AARRRGGGHHH to the Winners.

POTW: Kickn' Kids

Kickn' Kids

TOGA..TOGA..TOGA... With John Belushi chanting Toga in the back round, Kickn' Kids showed up to the field decked out in their favorite sheets. One would think that Togas would hinder a kickball player, but against all odds players blazed around the bases, kicked balls to the outfield and made all the tough defensive plays.

POTW: Rev. Run

Kickn' Kids

With the sun blazing, Kickn' Kids came out with more then a victory as they freaked the funk on and off the field. With the back round sound of classic hip hop the team displayed a legendary form of defense. With a side step to the left and then the right they held Drunk and Looking to Score to one run and danced to victory.
