First Place

Summer Co-ed Softcore Kickball Mon/Wed at Unthank Park

The culmination of the season occurred on Wednesday evening between Balls of Fury and The Eradicators. Both teams looked focused but only one team could a take home the championship. In the end, it came down to a pitching duel.

The pitches were consistent on both sides; unfortunately the difference makers happened to be catching. The Eradicators had some balls that just fell off the fingertips. Balls of Fury capitalized on those errors and propelled themselves to a 5-1 victory.

Jake Bennett of team Balls of Fury had a fantastic game. In addition to superb pitching, Jake had red balls flying near his face all game, and even took a shot in the eye.

The 3rd place game was a defensive battle. Red Rubber Lubbers and The Bloopers tallied just three runs. The Lubbers were up 1-0 through 5 innings. The Bloopers put a man on base and had hopes of evening the score. That is when Keith Kessinger, of the Lubbers, made the play of the game. He caught a fly ball in center field and hit the back of the lead runner going to 3rd base. It was a rifle shot that changed the landscape of the game. The Red Rubber Lubbers held on for a 2-1 win.

POTW: Kate Reeg

Balls of Fury!

Kate earns this week's honor of POTW. Her tenacious defense and outstanding clutch RBI's was key to her sides success. The high temperatures had no affect on her ability to perform at the highest level. No matter what the situation was, kate delivered a stunning performance.

Wednesday, July 8

POTW: Kara DeBo

Balls of Fury!

What's the best birthday present you can give an Underdog Kickballer? A win over the reigning Montavilla champions, The Bloopers! Kara played great on her special day and the entire team followed suit to get them a slim lead in a great defensive match-up. Happy Birthday, you're a winner!
