First Place

Summer Co-ed Softcore Kickball at Col. Summers Park M/W

In a championship game that matched two teams that fought it out in Week 1 of the regular season, Kicks are for Kids came out on top again. Today the Kids saw multiple hero's come through for their team. Suzanne's performance (including catching a tough fly directly in the sun) was worthy of any Underdog all-star team! Rissa played hard-core defense and stepped up on offense as well. Matt's HR and near-HR tripple were responsible for 1/3 of the teams total runs. Andrew teamed up with Ed at the beginning of the game to score the Kids first two runs in some ultra-aggressive base-running that was highlighted by Andrew's HR later in the game. Chris showed his dodgeball skills by making a sick tag-out at home. All in all it was a team performance with everyone stepping up. Way to go Kicks are for Kids!

POTW: The Kids

kicks are for kids

This week's POW goes to none other than the "Kids". No silly, we're not talking about children as this is an adult league...we're talking about Kicks are for Kids! With a dominating beatdown by Peg You in The Head in Week 3 for the Kids only loss of the season, the Kids came into this game thinking about payback. Although the first inning didn't goes as planned with Peg You going up 6-0 in the top of the 1st inning that didn't seem to faze the Kids too much and they started to apply the gas about half way through the game. With a spectacular extra inning win in the bottom of the 8th inning the Kids secured themselves a place in the championship game. Way to go Kids!

POTW: Ed Kroll

kicks are for kids

After sitting on the sidelines observing and studying most of the season Ed has come through in the few games that he has played. Today was just one of those days that Ed made his mark on his team. With teammates yelling "sustainable dodgeball" for some weird reason, Ed pulled out all the stops and helped lead his team to victory to force a 3-way tie for first place (prior to tiebreakers) going into the playoffs. Today he conquered his teammates hearts.

POTW: Naked Guy

kicks are for kids

This week's Player of the Week goes to none other than "Naked Guy"! Who I can only assume was on Kicks are for Kids' roster since he decided to hang out on their side of the field for the night. A few (unnamed for their own protection) players from Kicks gave thanks for ordering "Naked Guy" for their team so they could enjoy in the wonderful yoga poses and stretches/bending over that he was showcasing on the 1st base side of the outfield. Way to go Naked Guy...leave it all out in the field...literally!

POTW: Jordan Foster

kicks are for kids

In a tight game the entire way, Kicks are for Kids pulled off another stellar victory this week! Jordan's absolutely fabulous catches at 2nd base were inspiring, exciting and oh so jaw-dropping. Her teammates knew she was the right choice, trained in dodgeball of course, to put in a key position in the infield. Way to go Jordan, you rock!

POTW: Andrew Dawson

kicks are for kids

Daws Boot came to play today with a few deep kicks to left-center field. Although he did try to destroy the piece and quiet of the spectators in the deep outfield we won't blame him for that. It was all for the good of the team anyway!
