Our softcore 1 Championship match up brought previous champions Notorious DIG and against long time Underdog team Spike Club III. Notorious DIG came ready to play tonight and by the score of game 1 11-25, you would have thought they were going to run away with it. But not so fast because the Underdog Veterans were not going to let the game get away that fast. Spike Club captain Collier brought the team in to regroup and that they did. After some wicked serves by Cara Spike Club was back in it. One by one they fought off DIG until they forced a game 3 by a score of 25-23. Game three was a hard fought match by both teams. Multiple lead changes and minimal point differentials. Again a score of 25-23 would decide the match but it was Notorious DIG and a beautiful tip right on net from Tim that sealed the deal. Great match by both teams but there can only be 1 champion so congrats to Notorious DIG. Great season! See you again to defend your title once again!

Tonight’s Softcore 2 champions had to work extra hard. The championship match between Not The Face and Ball Handers was game two of the night for both teams. Not The Face had to knock of the number 2 team, Unsafe Sets. They did so in two fast pace games. Ball Handlers had to work even harder in a three round match against the scrappy Get it Up team. Both semis were great games only in preparation for a great Championship match.
With both teams warmed up and ready to go the Championship match started off with some great hits by General Ben for Not The Face and Corey from Ball Handlers was right there to get the block. Both teams were on fire but it was Not The Face that would inch out a 25-23 win in game one. Not the Face built off of their first game win and kept rolling. With Captain Lindsey cheering from the sidelines, Not The Face was building. That extra game in the semis might have just gotten to the Ball Handlers and the game began to slide not in their favor. With two points to go, the Ball Handlers put up a rally but a 12 point deficit was too much to over come and Not The Face took home their first Underdog Championship. Great work to both teams! Hope to see you both back for a rematch soon!

Our midcore championship was a fun one this season. Defending champions Kneepads and Mouthwash took on Ball Me Maybe. Both Teams defeated their semi round opponents in two games so they were ready to keep the ball rolling. Both teams came out swinging away. The talk on the court was great and not many balls hit the floor without a dedicated player within reach. The first game went to Ball Me Maybe by a score of 25-17. And without a blink of the eye they were ready for game two, but so where Kneepads and Mouthwash. So game two of the night was closer than ever. Both teams were in it to win it, but Ball Me Maybe didn’t have a championship and they wanted it just two more points more than the defending champions. So with a final score of 25-23, Ball Me Maybe took home their first Underdog Championship. Great game by both teams. Hopefully we will see you both out there again next season!
